Splitgate is a sci-fi shooter that features player-controlled portals. This shooter takes the FPS genre to a new dimension with its portal mechanics, delivering high-flying, multi-dimensional combat. Players are constantly out-maneuvered and out-smarted by the game’s intense, traversal action. In this game, players are constantly out-smarting and out-maneuvers enemies by flying and using portal mechanics. There is nothing quite like landing a no-scope headshot from behind after portalling circles around a confused enemy.

Splitgate’s gameplay should not be limited to the campaign missions. Players should have the opportunity to learn the maps and to explore them with different game modes. Multiplayer maps should be designed with the map in mind and not with the campaign in mind. Multiplayer maps should be designed to allow players to use a variety of gameplay mechanics, such as the portal, to the best of the map’s ability. There should be a practice mode that allows the player to familiarize themselves with the maps. Splitgate evokes memories of the most revered shooters of the past two decades with its classic and familiar feel of close-quarters combat while adding a unique twist. With its team-based gameplay and use of portals, the game requires constant tactical adaptation. Successful players work to out-maneuver and out-smart opponents by strategically creating and controlling the game’s six portals.

Graphics should be designed to allow the player to experience different game modes, such as Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and King of the Hill. Maps should be designed to allow players to use different gameplay mechanics, such as the portal, to the best of the map’s ability. Splitgate uses a cartoon-like, cel-shaded art style that makes it stand out from other games in its genre. The color and detail of the game is impressive considering the game is free-to-play.

Splitgate has a variety of game modes to offer. Though the core gameplay lies in the fast-paced, portal-combat, it’s not all about quick reflexes and cunning. Players must make use of the environment and their opponents’ locations in order to position themselves for the next attack.
