Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy is a compilation of 3 action-adventure games in the Grand Theft Auto series: Grand Theft Auto III (2001), Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002), and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004). These games were remastered, with visual enhancements and gameplay upgrades. As a result of the enhancements, the games have a more realistic appearance.

The gameplay of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy consists of a series of missions, mostly involving the player driving from one point to another, occasionally being prompted to kill a certain number of enemies or to follow a certain vehicle. A checkpoint system is used to keep track of the player's progress.

The gameplay of GTA III is focused on stealth and completing a series of missions. It involves a lot of combat and shooting, but the player can also take a less violent approach. The stealth gameplay has been updated to give players more options, such as the ability to shoot from a distance or to attack from a vehicle.

In GTA Vice City, the player can travel to a different area by taxi, boat, or helicopter. The player can also do a variety of side quests, such as taxi driving, police work, and vigilante missions.

In GTA San Andreas, the player can travel between different areas across the fictional state of San Andreas. The player can steal a variety of vehicles, including a plane. The player can also do a variety of side quests, such as bus driving, armed robbery, and vigilante missions.

In GTA III, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas, the development team studied the distinctive qualities of the original games, and added several colouring, weathering, and lighting effects. They also added new assets from GTA V. The GTA III character design was updated to reflect the original.
