YouTube Music Currently Tests Its New and Improved User Interface

Since its first introduction, YouTube Music had its ups and downs, to say the least. The service ran into a lot of criticism concerning its range of features and interface layout. Over time, a lot of issues were fixed by developers and now it seems that they are actively working on upgrading the user experience by changing the app’s interface.

At the moment, YouTube Music is testing its new design, which should make adding songs to the playlist easier and more convenient. With the updated design, you can see recent playlists displayed on top of the carousel while others continue down the list. The ‘’Add to playlist’ menu is right above all the playlists you have. While the list view is quite straightforward, the solution itself is far from creative.

The good thing is that you can now see the number of songs in every playlist and its cover. The actual interface currently has a full-width view, which is an improvement from a floating window. The shortcut for the new playlist is at the bottom and it looks like a floating action button.

Even though the design is definitely an improvement, it has plenty of bugs at the moment. Some users complained that it’s impossible to scroll down. As the interface is in its testing phase, it’s more than likely that Google will notice any problems and fix them before introducing the app to the general public.

It’s obvious that the YouTube Music team is taking their product more seriously. According to the study, the app is the fastest growing service for music streaming in the USA. Spotify still continues to dominate the market, but the situation may drastically change in the future.
